Thursday, 25th April - Denver/Colorado Springs
After a relaxing overnight stay at Ibis Heathrow we arrived at Terminal 2 in good time for breakfast after an incredibly speedy bag drop and security check.

We departed on board a United Airlines Dreamliner and arrived 9 hours later in Denver, Colorado at 1.45pm local time (7 hours behind the UK) and in glorious sunshine with the snow-capped Rocky Mountains as a spectacular back drop. We were through customs and bag return in under half an hour and headed off to collect our Hyundai Santa Fe SUV that will be our wheels for the duration.
After a late change prompted by a weather forecast of heavy snow overnight Friday into Saturday, we went 80 miles south of Denver to our overnight stay in the Quality Inn Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs. (Our original plan was to go north to Estes Park for a couple of nights but the prospect of grim weather led to a swift change of plans - many thanks to Duncan at Complete North America for springing into action and facilitating the change at the eleventh hour).
My brain now thinks it is half past midnight, even though the clock says 5.30pm, so dinner and then bed call .........
Pleased you had a good trip. Snow! In April 🥶
ReplyDeleteSo pleased you arrived safely, and having had a smooth journey. I wonder if you packed the right clothes for snow? The imminent storm reminds me of our first day in Chicago when it POURED!
